The Stability and Self-organization of 3d Bidisperse Cellular Fluids
نویسندگان
چکیده
The possibility of formation of cellular systems composed of two immiscible fluids, A and B, immersed in a continuous liquid medium C, has been examined. The system under study is formed as a result of the insertion of small bubbles or droplets of fluid A into a drained monodisperse foam/emulsion consisting of bubbles/droplets of fluid B separated by a thin film of liquid C. Interfacial tensions acting along the A-C and B-C interfaces were assumed to be the only driving forces determining the polyhedral shape of network cells. The stability of different patterns formed when A singlets (i.e. single A cells surrounded by B cells only) or A doublets (i.e. two neighboring A cells shearing one A-C-A face) are inserted into the B network, has been discussed in terms of the interfacial energy of the system.

Simulation for the Microstructure and Rheology in Bidisperse Magnetorheological Fluids
There are many ferromagnetic particles dispersed in carrier oil in magnetorheological fluids. Assuming Newtonian motion, the forces between particles of different radius, including magnetic interaction, viscous force and contact interaction, are obtained, and the corresponding model for motion of particles is proposed. Under an external magnetic field, the microstructures in bidisperse magnetor...
متن کاملPressure and compressibility factor of bidisperse magnetic fluids.
In this work, we investigate the pressure and compressibility factors of bidisperse magnetic fluids with relatively weak dipolar interactions and different granulometric compositions. In order to study these properties, we employ the method of diagram expansion, taking into account two possible scenarios: (1) dipolar particles repel each other as hard spheres; (2) the polymer shell on the surfa...
متن کاملImproving Thermal Stability of Starch in Formate Fluids for Drilling High Temperature Shales
Starch is one of the most widely used biopolymers in water based drilling fluids to control fluid loss. The thermal stability of starch in common drilling fluids is low (93 °C). In this study, the thermal stability of starch has been evaluated in sodium/potassium formate and potassium chloride fluids. Samples of mud were prepared by formate salts (sodium and potassium) and potassium chloride wi...
متن کاملNonlinear stability of rotating two superposed magnetized fluids with the technique of the homotopy perturbation
In the present work, the Rayleigh-Taylor instability of two rotating superposed magnetized fluids within the presence of a vertical or a horizontal magnetic flux has been investigated. The nonlinear theory is applied, by solving the equation of motion and uses the acceptable nonlinear boundary conditions. However, the nonlinear characteristic equation within the elevation parameter is obtained....
متن کاملEffects of geometrical and geomechanical properties on slope stability of open-pit mines using 2D and 3D finite difference methods
Slope stability analysis is one of the most important problems in mining and geotechnical engineering. Ignoring the importance of these problems can lead to significant losses. Selecting an appropriate method to analyze the slope stability requires a proper understanding of how different factors influence the outputs of the analyses. This paper evaluates the effects of considering the real geom...
